Why we do what we do . . .

The Missionary Advisory Council promotes overseas mission within ‘The Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches’ in the United Kingdom. We encourage local churches to send out missionaries, either through our worldwide links with other evangelical congregational churches, through other established Christian missionary organizations, or independently, and to promote concern for, and interest in, mission amongst EFCC churches.

Approximately 150 Christian missionaries are supported by EFCC’ churches, working with 60 partner organizations. We also have links with established churches in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Brazil, Micronesia (tiny islands in the Pacific Ocean!) and Portugal.

Welcome

Peter Taylor is pastor of Nazeing Congregational Church in Essex. A former missionary with OMF, he and his wife Val, recently revisited the Philippines after a twelve years' absence.

Who we are . . .

The Mission Advisory Council consists of members and ministers from EFCC churches across the United Kingdom. Some members of the Council have previously served overseas as missionaries; others are from churches with an established commitment to overseas mission. The Council meets twice a year, and publishes prayer guides to assist local churches.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to glorify God by promoting mission within the churches of the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (The Bible: John 3:16 [NIV])

Our Vision

Our vision is to help equip the churches within the fellowship to obey Christ's command to make disciples of all peoples.

Jesus said to his disciples,

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (The Bible: Matthew 28:18-20 [NIV])

Our Practice

• We seek to inform and encourage the pastors in regard to mission, particularly at the Ministers' In-Service Training and Prayer Conference.

• We cannot make progress in obeying Christ's command without prayer so we produce a prayer handbook to encourage prayer within the fellowship for those involved in mission overseas and within the UK.

• We are able to suggest those who would be willing to share with a church on the subject of mission - and often out of personal experience.

• We have an exhibition to help promote mission and this can be made available to the churches upon request.

We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. (The Bible: Colossians 1:28 [NIV])
